Bugatti presented their La Voiture Noire six months ago at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show. This incredibly beautiful hypercar pays homage to the world-famous Type 57 SC Atlantic, the iconic one-of-a-kind motor car that Bugatti was able to sell for $18,600,000 (€16,500,000), taxes included. The La Voiture Noire buyer’s identity has yet to be publicly revealed, but according to the Daily Mail, Cristiano Ronaldo bought the car! You know who he is, right? Just about the most talented footballer (soccer player) in the entire world, as well as the best looking! Anyhow, the Daily Mail gave credit to the Spanish website Marca.com for this tip!
This is definitely not official news. In fact, the British tabloid was not able to find any other sources for the information. And Marca.com only wrote one or two sentences about this with no clues as to who they found this out from. Not surprisingly, Bugatti isn’t saying a word about this, and there is nothing on Ronaldo’s social media that mentions Bugatti at all. So, who knows?
We mention this because, even if it is just a rumor, any news about who may have bought the most expensive new car in the entire world is fascinating. And what makes this even more interesting is that the car we’re discussing is so exotically beautiful and fast. The carbon fiber body of the La Voiture Noire is totally made by hand and looks a little like the Bugatti Chiron-based Divo on the surface. Underneath, you’ll find the quad-turbo W16 engine (like the Chiron) with up to 1,500 HP on each wheel.
The actual car that Bugatti presented in Geneva was a prototype, with no engine or interior. Bugatti’s explanation was that this car had been on the drawing board for just six months. The final model is not expected to be finished for another 2½ years. This means that if Ronaldo really is who bought this ride, we won’t be seeing him driving it around anytime soon.
